Two ferry companies, one timetable
Viking Line and Tallink Silja run side by side on the Stockholm - Helsinki route, and the timetable above shows both in one list. There is one departure per direction a day with each ferry company, all year round. Both leave in the late afternoon and arrive the next morning. So you're choosing less a time than a ship, a terminal and the ferry company you'll spend the night with.

From 1 October 2026, Viking Line leaves Stockholm half an hour earlier; the arrival in Helsinki stays the same. Heading to Stockholm, the Viking timetable changes again in summer 2027. For your date, rely on the table above, not on this overview.
The time difference
Finland is one hour ahead of Sweden. Heading to Helsinki, the clock therefore shows one hour more than you're actually travelling; heading to Stockholm, one hour less. Tickets and the table always show the local time of each port. Change your watch in the morning before you plan your onward train in Helsinki.
What to bear in mind with the timetable
On public holidays, around Christmas and during dry-dock periods, both ferry companies run to special timetables, when times and ships may differ. Viking Line operates the Gabriella and the Viking Cinderella in opposite directions, Tallink Silja the Silja Serenade and the Silja Symphony. The table gives the ship for each departure.
The two ferry companies use different terminals: Viking Line the Stadsgården terminal in Stockholm and the Katajanokka terminal in Helsinki, Tallink Silja the Värtan terminal and the Olympia terminal. The Stockholm ferry port and Helsinki ferry port pages describe how to get there.
