stockholm-helsinki.com covers one connection: the overnight ferry between Stockholm and Helsinki. Two ferry companies sail this route side by side, Viking Line with the Gabriella and the Viking Cinderella and Tallink Silja with the Silja Serenade and the Silja Symphony. Both leave in the late afternoon, call at Mariehamn during the night and arrive the next morning.

So the decision you make here is less about a departure time than about the ferry company, the terminal and the cabin, and about where your dog spends the night. We show the departures of both companies in one timetable, put the ships side by side, explain the different check-in deadlines and describe the four terminals in Stockholm and Helsinki.

What this site is not

stockholm-helsinki.com is an independent guide and not the official website of Viking Line or Tallink Silja. We are not a travel guide to Sweden or Finland and not a hotel portal: sights, accommodation ashore, flights and hire cars are deliberately left out, and other ferry routes from Stockholm and Helsinki are not covered as a product. We concentrate on the crossing itself: choosing the ferry company and cabin, travelling with a car, motorhome, bicycle or dog and the procedure at both ports. We do not sell the tickets ourselves: bookings go through our partner Direct Ferries (directferries.co.uk), where the current prices, availability and conditions apply.

Prices appear only on the prices page; sailing times, deadlines and terminal addresses come from the ferry companies and the port operators and are checked regularly.
